Education Support Begins: A New Chapter for Hillwood Golf Academy

Hillwood Golf Academy has always been about more than golf. This year we reached an exciting milestone: in August, at the start of term three, educational support tuition began at Khanyisa Waldorf School Plumstead, officially launching the education leg of the Academy.

Two Steps, One Vision

Khanyisa Waldorf joined the Academy in April, when golf tuition began. In August, a second and separate programme followed: tuition to support the children with their schoolwork. Together, the two grow the whole child, on the course and in the classroom.

Led by an Education Specialist

The education leg is led by Carol Felix, an education specialist with a Master's degree in Education and more than 40 years of experience in the field. Carol brings the knowledge, patience and care that this new chapter needs, and she is already helping to make sure that academic progress stays a priority alongside sporting development.

Why Education Matters

Not every child who picks up a golf club will become a professional golfer, and that is perfectly fine. What every child can take away from the Academy is a stronger foundation for life. Education support is how we make sure of that.

• Confidence in the classroom. A child who understands the work is more willing to put up a hand, ask questions and take part.
• Better results and more choices. Strong school results keep doors open for further study, training and work.
• Habits that carry over. The patience, discipline and practice that improve a golf swing also build good study habits, and the other way round.
• A broader future. Education prepares our students for opportunities far beyond sport, whatever path they choose.
• Leadership. Students who grow in knowledge and confidence are better prepared to become mentors to their peers later on.

Hillwood Golf Academy was founded on three areas: golf, education and leadership. With golf tuition and now education support both under way, the Academy is closer than ever to its aim of developing well-rounded young people who are prepared for life.
